INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON CREATIVE WRITING
A two day maiden edition of International Conference on Creative Writing in honour of a renowned creative writer, Elechi Amadi, has ended at the old Senate Administrative building of the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt.The Conference, which was packaged by Association of Nigerian Authors, Rivers State chapter in conjunction with Rivers State University.
The program which was attended by Prof. Mrs Elechi Amadi and her children saw the convergence of literary giants and students from various Universities including Hezekiah University, Umudi, Nkwerre, Imo State.
The Hezekiah University, Umudi, Nkwerre team was led by Dr Chris Ukagu and Lady Joyce Nwosu. Dr Ukagu was also a Panelist.

The first day of the Conference featured lead paper presentations after which participants were entertained with poems by different poets.
The second day was for paper presentations and panel discussions. There was also a workshop session during which Speakers extensively exhausted the concept of Creative Writing, the principles and the different genres of Creative Writing.
Prominently, the participants were divided into three panels. Panels one and two discussed Elechi Amadi’s works while Panel three looked at the sub theme ” Literature and the Nigerian Socio-Political Environment”.
The Conference offered the Hezekiah University Students the opportunity of visiting the River State University Radio studio where they had the rare opportunity of going on air.
Lady Joyce Nwosu, Dr Chris Ukagu and a Student Jennifer Chiedu were interviewed during which they extensively spoke about Hezekiah University.
Indeed the Conference exposed our Students to the literary world. They received certificates of participation, bought novels which were autographed by the Prof. Mrs Elechi Amadi on behalf of her late husband in whose memory the maiden Conference was organised and had site seeing fun around the University.
